Edited by: Gavjack Bunk on 02/06/2010 12:24:28 Eve has too many systems if anything. There's simply no reason to live together, only to fight with each other. Most MMO games don't involve loss or consequence, only the ever rising number called "Gold" and the promise from the manufacturer that if you ever reach the point where the most rare or expensive item becomes obtainable, they will make a new one that costs 100x what that last one cost. Thus giving you a reason to live instead of fighting.
In Eve there's nothing to be gained by living in peace, no matter how large your group, how big your ships, somebody somewhere will fancy having a go at you, so everything is fight fight fight. Anybody who doesn't want to fight is basically thinking they cannot avoid the fighting and space should be bigger. But it won't fix what they think it will fix, and it will just mean the people that want to shoot them have to travel further to shoot them.
Where you gather in groups, that's where they come to find you. The star map tells them where to find you. It doesn't matter if it's one jump or fifty, they're still coming.
WH space is kinda different. Somebody is coming, you just can't necessarily guess who.
Until somebody somewhere invents a reason to live together, space will always be considered too small or too big. I don't think anybody anywhere will ever consider it to be the right size. RvB for instance I think they use either 2 or 3 systems, no reason to live, no reason to travel.
Can you survive long enough in your spot to get that number to rise to the value you want it to say? That's basically it. It's a database access program that is so counterintuitive to use, they can call it and sell it as a game.
So get back there and start getting those floating point values rising again, before some other database access operator comes along and makes them smaller.
Most of my entire life revolves around arranging 1's and 0's on hard disks. That's pretty depressing. Some 1's and 0's changed on some hard disks, and suddenly Kraft were making Cadbury chocolate out of whatever they had lying around. How mad is that? Some day all our sought after and valuable money will just been magnetism and we'll still think it has value and chase after it.
What was this thread about again?
